Snuck one last day before winter really arrived in Eldo with some classics, I’m ashamed to admit hadn’t ever done before… a cool link up of Rosy Crucifixion to the famous Yellow Spur with a couple harder variations. Fun to swing leads with @simihamilton leading the charge and my cousin Spenser in the mix.

Good partnership is a special thing. So rare to have people you can scrap a plan together with on short notice, (and follow through) push you, learn from, and bring out the best of each other and yourself. Reminded of this yesterday when @simihamilton and I met, sorted gear in the parking lot, and hammered off jogging down the North Vista trail, racing the sun in Mid November, and the imminent closure of the North Rim of the @blackcanyonnps for winter. We had solid intel that maintenance would lock the gate at an unspecified time (no posted notices about closure anywhere), so we knew we were making a bit of a gamble on a Grade IV route with a mid afternoon return time needed, on a route neither of us had ever done. Well… in the end- we sent safely, didn’t take any unnecessary risk, jogged back to the car after topping out, and made it in time to erase our names from the white board just as maintenance rolled up. Phew! The Black Canyon is a sacred place, that always delivers- in one way or another. Those of you that know the route know that this thing BAKES in the sun most the year, south facing, long, no water and only one dining room table sized spot of shade on the whole route…so to have thirst quenching patches of snow near the top was delightful! Last but not least, a huge thanks to our wives and kids that allow us these days in wild places to bring our better selves back.

Wrapping up a few weeks of wild exploration and trout hunting in northern Patagonia with @elevenexperience @elevenskiing @elevenangling and the super knowledgeable @eastbru showing me the ropes of running jet boats and roping big trout, steelhead and possibly salmon, on these untouched waterways. Excited to put the fish and ski product together in the future to really set a new bar and see more of what Patagonia has to offer. Finished up a trip into the Weminuche wilderness, the largest wilderness in Colorado. Great group of long time friends from the ATL. Smash and grab- no acclimatization needed apparently! Thanks boys and thanks to @aspenexpeditions @sanjuan.expeditions for the support!

Last day in a the Dolomites. Gonna be really hard to leave. So unbelievably cool to be able to share this place with the kids and get them on the rock. Can’t wait to return…
